Alliance Bulldogs 2009 Spring Training Program
“Unprecedented on-ice hockey training coordinated with an innovative off-ice program” - The Alliance Youth Hockey Association is excited to announce their Spring Training Program. The spring program, designed by the experienced coaches of Alliance, has been developed to cater to individual skill development and the physical and mental preparation required for upcoming tryouts and Rocky Mountain District Festival while taking into consideration the current economy.
All camps in the spring program will be held at Valley Ranch Dr. Pepper Stars Center, home of the Alliance Youth Hockey Association, and will consist of 3 distinct camps: An Elite Midget Training Program, Skills Drills and Thrills Mini-Camps, and an intensive 6 Week Skill Development Camp.
Alliance built the spring program curriculum giving families and players the ability to select the amount of training that fits their budget, the type of training that is best suited for their player and providing the ability for players to get a break for those that wanting some time away from the ice to re-energize while still participating in some training.

Elite Midget Training Program
The “off season” is a time for self reflection, evaluation, rest and development. Alliance hockey recognizes a need for change in the programming of previously offered training models during the off season. As a result we are proud to announce our plans for a unique two staged Midget Spring Training Cycle.
Stage 1 Camp (Pre-RMD): The first stage will be the Pre – RMD Festival Midget Skate for select players with the 92/93 & 94/95 birth years who are participants in the 2009 Rocky Mountain Development Player/Evaluation Camp or are invited by a current Alliance coach. Alliance prides itself on offering high end training from elite coaches who understand the physical and mental requirements for players to succeed in these festival type environments. Beginning the week of April 13th we will offer two 75 minute ice sessions per week. Tentative dates for these skates are as follows: 4/18, 4/19, 4/21, 4/24, 4/25 and are by invitation only.
The focus of this program is to allow players the opportunity to address the specific needs of the Festival atmosphere and surround them with players at the same age and skill level who will be facing the same challenges ahead as well. These sessions will help put them into the training phase for individual and competitive development. The curriculum will offer players opportunity to address areas of concern while enhancing overall individual skills in a highly competitive environment with a group of their peers. Emphasis will be placed on elements such as skating, puck movement, individual offensive / defensive tactics and battle situations. Of course we will also include small areas games and scrimmages to allow for the application of these skills. The cost of this select preparation program will be $125 per player.
Stage 2 Camp: After a much needed “Rest” period from April 29th – May 15th allowing the athletes to re-charge their batteries we will move on to stage two. This phase will take Elite Midget players (91-94) back into the “Specific Preparation” stage of development. The goal here is to allow players to train hard both on and off the ice. Beginning the week of May 18th and leading up until tryouts, players will again hit the ice twice a week and learn to compete during a series of high tempo drills and battle situations as well as a series of competitive scrimmages to showcase their skills against one another. Additional off ice training will be available with the intent of offering players a vehicle to improve their overall athleticism and strength while preparing for the upcoming tryouts. The primary goal is create a high end training environment under the guidance of knowledgeable coaches in a limited and controlled setting. The cost for stage two will be $250 per player.
For each segment of the program there will be no less than 2 coaches on the ice and others observing off ice to ensure the objectives of the program are being reached. Essentially all sessions will be comprised of approximately ½ drills and training with the remainder focusing on scrimmages. The total cost of the Midget program is $375 which includes both segments with 15 high tempo skates, off ice training and the often overlooked but necessary break in between. All skates will be with comparable selected players. While we do encourage all elite players to apply, you will be contacted by one of our coaches after we receive your registration with a formal invitation.

6 Week High Performance Development Camp (April 25 – June 4)
Alliance believes a shorter and more intensive Skill Development Camp will provide better results, a better value and allow those needing a break to re-energize. As a result, the Skill Development Camp will be 6 weeks in length from April 25th through June 4th and will be 3 sessions per week (18 session total) for increased intensity and skill reinforcement (except Mites which will be 2 times per week/12 session total). Each session will include 60 minute (Mite-Peewee) / 75 minute (Bantam-Midget) on-ice and 60 minute off-ice training with the experienced Alliance coaches. Through the efficient use of training time utilizing intensive high tempo drills and the high quality instruction, the mission of the 6 Week Skill Development Camp is to maximize both the physical and mental development of each player.
Camps sessions will be split into groups of players by skill level for each age bracket and each group will be limited to 25 skaters and 4 goalies. Each camp session will have at least 4 on-ice coaches and each Tier 1 coach will attend camps with each group. The camp will consist of a formal skill progression of Skating, Skills, Competition and Off-Ice.
Example Training Plan for Peewees

The camp will also provide pre and post fitness testing to measure success and to provide objectives for continued strength and conditioning during the off-season. Additionally, the camp incorporates the use of on-ice video analysis specific to each player and team concepts. This analysis will focus on stride, body positioning and balance, on-ice positioning and other key factors to help each player improve their skating and knowledge of playing the game. Part of the last week of the camp will be geared towards tryout preparation. Coaches will help the players understand what coaches are looking for during tryouts and how to mentally prepare for tryouts.
