Thanks for the comment Paul. This is a sad but true reality in many youth sports today. However, with awareness maybe more people will come to understand that there is no "i" in the word team! Please keep the comments coming!

I have found it nec that you find a Coach who uses every player to make a team a team. I Coach Adult Hockey and have done Youth before too... I have seen Highschool Hockey spoiled by Coaches who play the team as if they were NHL and not play every player. This style of Coaching is wrong because, first off it's pay to play and everyone's dollar is the same. Second if your player is on the bench they never learn the game. Teams Win and Lose as Teams, not as certain lines on the team or players.. Always find a Coach who will make a TEAM of players, every line from the 1st line to the 4th should be a threat on the ice. Every player should face every issue from Power Plays to Penalty Kills.. No player should ever RIDE THE PINE as I have heard before, if they do you need to address that fast or your player will lose interest very fast and you will too...
